Ben ZhangBen Zhang

Ben is Chairman, CEO and Founder of Solar Tech USA. He is also CEO and founder of Greater China Industries, Inc. Ben arrived in Seattle in June of 1989 with just $330 cash in his pocket and an entrepreneur's spirit. During his senior year at the University of Washington(UW) he started an import export business, and upon graduation in 1995, founded Greater China in Bellevue, Washington to supply import products to the Promotional Products Industry. In 2009 Ben saw opportunities to provide great product value and service in the rapidly growing solar products sector and co-founded Solar Tech USA.

Ben is a true believer in the value of continuing education to better serve clients. He obtained his BA in Chemistry from Yangzhou University in China. In 2001 he completed an intensive 9-month Management Program at the University of Washington. Continuing to raise personal and professional standards, Ben completed his EMBA at Cornell University in November of 2010. He was accepted by Harvard Business School to their 39th OPM 3-year executive management program and will graduate Spring of 2011. His continual goal is to bring the latest "success ingredients" learned back to Solar Tech USA for practical application in the improvement of company processes and customer support. Ben was recently awarded City University's prestigious 2009 Global Innovator Award for his multi-cultural business success.



ypYi Ping (Y.P.) Chan
President and Co-Founder

MBA and MSEE, Columbia University
Y.P. has over 20 years of experience in business turnaround and restructuring, entrepreneurship, venture capital, high-tech, JV, and acquisitions in USA, Hong Kong, China and Japan. He specializes in strategy and operations, as well as business and financial modeling, infrastructure building, and start-ups. He is the principal of Chanden Inc., primarily focusing on investment and business advisory services in USA and East Asia.
From 2003 to 2006, Y.P. was an Interim CEO, COO, and Director of a small publicly-listed US company where he spent four years engaged in turnaround and restructuring. Prior to that, he was Chief Strategist and Interim-CFO for an IT consulting company in Hong Kong, which grew from 15 to 75 people in a year. He was co-founder of a technology transfer company specializing in the health care sector. He also held a senior management position with a Hong Kong-based venture capital and technology holding company with operations in Hong Kong, China and the US, where he was responsible for strategic planning, infrastructure building and fund raising. Early on in his career, Y.P. worked for AlliedSignal (now Honeywell) and Knorr-Bremse doing M&A and JV in China and Japan as well as working as a firmware engineer designing mainframes for IBM and as Member of Technical Staff designing NASA satellite subsystems for TRW in USA.
Y.P. obtained both his MBA and MSEE degrees from Columbia University under IBM sponsorship and his BSEE (magna cum laude) from Polytechnic University in New York. He was a member of the Young Entrepreneurs' Organization, serving as a board member of the Hong Kong chapter in 2002 and 2003. He also served as a development advisor and associate for the Global Chinese Business Initiative at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, from 1998 to 2001.
His career has been covered by the Wall Street Journal, the Asia Wall Street Journal, Columbia Business School Magazine, CEO Magazine, WorldCity Magazine, and Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce Magazine. He is also a frequently featured speaker at various business schools as well as in various business events in both USA and Hong Kong.
