What is Solar Energy?

In the simplest of terms, solar energy is sunlight converted into electricity. It originates from the term “photovoltaic”, a Greek word meaning “light”, and “voltaic”, meaning electric. In scientific terms, the total solar energy absorbed by the Earth’s atmosphere, oceans, and land masses is approximately 3,850,000 exajoules (3.85 x 1024 joules) per year. In 2002, this translates to more energy in one hour from the sun than the world used in one year.

According to a forecast by the German Advisory Council on Global Change, solar energy will account for approximately 50% of the Earth's annual global energy production by 2080.  SolarTech USA has seized the challenge to develop, manufacture, and bring to market, innovative, practical-use products that enable individuals to realize immediate value.
